Note in pencil in UL: "Not catalogued", in LL: "Rec'd photos 3/23/50" Letter written on letterhead (8.25" x 5.5"): School Arts Magazine, Published by the Davis Press Inc, Worchester 8 Massachusetts: Pedro deLemos, Editor, Stanford University, California. Transcription follows: Dear Folks: Within two weeks I expect to have a good group of photographs to send to you illustrating the beautiful artistic basketry handicraft" of the California Indians As I go through the portfolios sent to me in 1924 by E. S. Curtis, I marvel at the design qualities; motifs which modern designers of today would praise highly, and art-craftsmen study for adaptations. Mrs. deLemos and I both enjoyed our visit to your Museum and appreciate the time you gave us showing us your collections, which were all beautifully arranged. With sincerest good wishes, Pedro deLemos 100 Waverly Oaks Palo Alto, California |
